On the way I did get some great photos of the Mountain Goats that live up there. What I have heard is they weren’t always there but brought in from Wyoming or maybe it was Montana but my point is they really don’t belong there, the ones on Nebo are gray not white like theses.

Mount Timpanogos is the second highest mountain in Utah’s Wasatch Range (second to Mount Nebo). Timpanogos rises to an elevation of 11,749 feet (3,582 m) above sea level in the Uinta National Forest (now part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest). With 5,269 feet of topographic prominence, Timpanogos is the 47th-most prominent mountain in the contiguous United States.

The mountain towers over Utah Valley, including the cities of Lehi, Provo, Orem, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Lindon and others. The exposed portion of the mountain is made up entirely of limestone and dolomite from the Pennsylvanian period, and is about 300 million years old. Heavy winter snowfall is characteristic of this portion of the Wasatch Range, and avalanche activity is common in winter and spring.

The word Timpanogos comes from the Timpanogots Ute tribe who lived in the surrounding valleys from A.D. 1400. The name translates as rock (tumpi-), and water mouth or canyon (panogos).

The more I run the simpler it seems to just jump out of the care and take off, having to pull my bike out and put it together seems like a pain but it is worth it.

Today I got my brakes fixed and decided to go up to the Timpnooeke Trail and take the Salamander Flats Trail up to the Pine Hollow and loop around to  and end up on top of the Alpine loop then back down Middle Trail and back to the car. It was really nice up there today nice and cool and a bunch of people on the trail.

At he 4 way on top of the ridge trail I ran into the Bike Peddler Club and took a min to chat with them. As I cleared the bottom of and started up the South Deer Fork Trail the sun was going down fast and I knew I had to start hitting the pedal or pull my light out. I was able to clear the top of the Alpine loop and quickly get back down to the car before the sun set.

Today I decided to take a trip around Lambert Park and kinda take it easy for tomorrow. It was a nice easy ride and a lot of deer on the trail today, Sam is doing a little better on not chasing them.
