Timp To Ridge To South Fork Loop
It was hot in the valley today, 102 degrees so Sam and I headed up American Fork Canyon to get in some cool air. I decided to mix things up a bit and ride from the Timp trail head up to the ridge trail and down south fork then back over the top and down the middle to the campgrounds and back to the car.
Along the way I met up with 2 guys on the ridge, we will call them Fox & Hanson, two really cool guys that were headed in the same direction. We hooked up and rode together, Sam seemed to like them so I figured If they were ok with Sam then they were ok with me. At the bottom of south fork Fox got a flat tire and didn’t have gear to fix it so I dropped a tube on him and we got rolling back up the 25 min climb to south fork. Hope to ride with them again soon, they were fun on the trail, and they had nice bikes. So if you guys a reading this contact me and we will do another ride!
Hike up timpanogos #2

Wesanator
It was cold Sunday morning. Probably around 40 degrees, burrrrr, and we were in shorts. We did take long sleeve shirts just in case and was good thing. They did come in handy, so off we go on our 12 hour hike and everything was going great. Kayla was stopping every 5 min to take a butt load of pics. I was trying to get her in gear, telling her there are better photos ops up the trail, so save some film. LMAO
Ok, well today was the day that I was going to ascend Mount Timpanogos. I had been planning this trip for a couple of weeks and was wanting whole family to go. So that’s what happened. The wife and I took the kids - Kayla, Tony (Kayla’s boyfriend) and Kris. The day started off great! Everyone was excited! Even me, for I was going to make it to the top of Timpanogos!
The Thunder and Lighting Ride!

Wesanator
This was a very nice ride even after it started raining, the thunder and lighting were very loud and bright, guess we were pushing our luck, top of mountain trees all around and sitting on an aluminum lighting rod LMAO, but alas we made it ok through the rain, bill was right no pics, not till afterward, when i got a few of me and my muddy self.
This was just fun, and then we hit the down hill single track, where the stinging nettle was out in all its glory, I even think I heard bill scream but then again maybe not I might of been the wind I’ll leave it at that. So till next time all happy riding.
Cry Me A Rainbow!
By Bill Messick
Wes and I took a ride from Timpooneke Road to Grove Creek today, about 10 min from the bowl it started to rain, so I didn’t get any video or pics this time. This was a thunder and lightning storm that hit us, big cracks of thunder were right on top of us. It didn’t seem to bother Sam who was running in the rain loving it. As we got to the top near the campground the rain broke and the sun came out a little and the rain stopped. I knew from previous years that the clay on the downhill was going to stick us to the ground and it did. As we came down the other side the mud built up on our tires to the point that we had to stop and carry them for about 1/3 of a mile.

Timpanookie or Timpooneke
Now I have heard and seen this word spelled allot of different ways, about a dozen or so. so I took the time to see how it was spelled and the signs I found had it all spelled Timpooneke.
This is the dirt road that goes around the mountain to the front where the G is on the side of the Timpanogos Mountain. this road leads to the canyons that drop down the front of Timpanogos. Grove Creek is the first one then you have Battle Creek and Dry Creek, the climb over Battle Creek Mountain is a fun one if you have ever had the chance to do it.
So is it Timpanookie or Timpooneke, you may have to decide this one on your own, either way you are in the right place when you are standing on this road ready to take on the crazy single tracks in front of you.
Timpooneke 2 Grove Creek 6-29-09

I love this ride! This is one of the single funnest rides you can spend time doing, but it takes a shuttle to pull it off right. You start at the top of the Timpooneke Campgrounds where the road turns to dirt at the top of American fork Canyon. You ride up about 35-45 min to the bowl, this is where the snow-slidesin the winter have carved out there spot. then it is another 15-25 min to the top, there is a campground there and nice views. It is pretty much down from here, on a double track road for about 15-25 min, just don’t miss the sign for Grove Creek on your left.
This is where it turns to single track, a little rough at times and usually full of stinging nettle. The drop to the falls or bridge is a blast, just take it easy through the bad spots on the way down, walk it if you have to. The trail drops right down on the Grove Creek parking lot up 500 north in Pleasnt Grove Utah.
Trail Run Timpanookie To Scout Falls
My dog jack gave me that look today, it was the look that meant it was a cross-train day or a trail run as I like to do. I picked a trail that bikes weren’t allowed on, Timpanooke trail up American Fork Canyon. This is one of the trails that go all the way to the top of the mountain.
We were only going to Scout Falls about a 30 min run up the trail, started to sprinkle as we got about 10 min from scout falls, but nothing big. We hit ghost Falls about 30:32 min on my watch and turned back and raced down in 15 min, nice run.
