After The Rain – Lambert Park
Useless Fact: There are 33 steps or zig-zags up the new Mill Canyon Trail in American Fork Canyon Utah.
It rained hard today, something like 1.2 inches in 2.5 hours that is like 2 months worth of rain in a few hours but as soon as the rain was done the sun came out and changed it all. Yesterday I went out to Big Springs and ran the 8k loop in about 63 minutes, not bad time.
So today I thought I would head over to Lambert Park and see if I could find a dry place to take a spin on the bike. It was nice up there the sun had dried things out good and me and Sam rolled around the trails for about 2 hours or so before the sun stated pushing us back toward the car.

Lambert Park Night Ride With The Club
I had promised Jack a run today but the Bike Peddler Ride Club was doing a night ride out at Lambert Park at 9:00 pm so along about 4:00 I took Jack and Sam out to Big Springs for the 8k loop. Park was packed out with people and they were all over the trails from top to bottom, we finished the run in about 72 minutes and headed home so I could rest up for the night ride. I was the first person to show up at Lambert Park so I started putting my bike together, Josh pulled up a few minutes later and along came another 4 riders.
We sat around for a few minutes and talked, they are really a bunch of great guys and I do love riding with them. We headed out down spring and before long got a little lost from each other but in the end we grouped back up. I was able to catch a little bit of video but most of the riders are younger than me so our ride styles are pretty different. They are mostly fast and furious smoking the trails as they go but I’m more layed back and take my time with the trail. Like it is an old lost friend!

Day 6 Taking It Easy & Doing Nothing
It’s not very often I play the lazy card but that is exactly what I did on day 6 of my smoke free life. Normally I would have taken a ride or a run just to set things right in my head. I about did around 7:45 pm last night, I was looking at the time and trying to decide if I should drive up to Big Springs and do the loop or go out to Lambert Park and take a ride. In the end I decided to just take a day off and work on a website I was needing to get updated, if you want to check my work here is the url http://avanacansing.info.
It has been a few months since I have done nothing and I was feeling a little guilty at first but guilt is not really my thing so I got over it. So today I’m trying to plan out where i’m going to go ride or run, I need to take a ride it has been over a week since my last ride. I really have been enjoying the runs so much that I have taken my bike out of the car and put it away. I’m thinking of giving it a bath and getting it dirty for today, or maybe I will just run?
What to do?

Sam Gets Herself In Hot Water
I have been having trouble with Sam my dog chasing wildlife and killing it! She has been chasing for a while now but just in the last month she has been snatching small animals right off the trail and killing them right in front of me. This does not sit well with me! So I have been working with her on and off a leash to try and stop this, last week she pulled a baby deer out of the bush and I had to save it.
Today I took a late MTB ride out at Lambert Park with Sam, we only had about 45 min till it was lights out so we headed down Rodeo. About 2 min in I noticed she was right on the trail of a chicken, there were feathers everywhere. I stopped her before she hurt it but as we got moving again she got right back on it. So I rode her butt right back to the car scolding her the entire way and left her sitting in the car while I went back out and finished the sun.
On the ride my back brakes failed so I need to get the bike into the shop and get them fixed, that’s ok I have a plane to run to the summit of Timp this week and need to push myself to the 14 mile mark.
