Took a really good ride today at Roman Nose State Park in Oklahoma, this ride is marked for advanced riders but I would call it good for any one to try. Most the advanced sections are short and can be walked if you are feeling a little spooked! The trail is always on the change so it is pretty hard to get bored on this one, with plenty of turns and drops to keep you on the edge of your seat and you would swear you are someplace in Utah or Colorado at times with this ride!

The ride is around 7 miles long and takes between 1-2 hours to complete so keep in mind to ride within your limits and don’t forget a helmet and have fun!

Well it happened, my bike had a few problems that required a skilled hand to fix, so I loaded my bike up and drove 80+ miles to the nearest bike shop in Enid Oklahoma to get things right! 12 years ago when I first landed in this area I had a stick kick up and grab my rear derailleur forcing it into my spokes and eating a few in the process. I had to make the same trip to The Bike Shop in Enid Oklahoma to fix my problem, I left the bike there for a week and picked it up fixed and ready to roll a week later.

So 12 years later I show up with my bike to see if I could get work done, they were in a different location but right around the corner and same shop same friendly faces. Mika she shop owner took control and got me in and as I was getting ready to leave invited me on a night ride in Stillwater at Lake McMurtry with his group, if you know me I could not turn down his offer to roll!

The ride wasn’t till the next day but I drove back to Woodward and got my lights charging, I was trying to imagine what the ride would be like in my mind and for all I could imagine I would have never guessed it right! So the next day around 4:00 pm I loaded up my lights and gear and headed back to Enid to meet up with my bike and the group heading over to Stillwater for the night ride, most seemed like road riders at first but you could tell they we loving the trails and would be great company.

So we get there shake hands with another group that was local and light up and rolled down what I was told is the Red Trail, right away I knew this was going to be something special! This trail was packed full of climbs, drops and trees and to top it off I was with a great group of riders. This trail is only 7 miles long but packs one hell of a mix for all levels of rider, this is by far the best trail I have done since I have been in Oklahoma and I highly recommend you buzz this trail at least one time in your life!
